Self-Esteem

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Navigate Self-Esteem with Compassionate, Licensed Therapists

Healthy self-esteem influences how we view ourselves, approach challenges, build relationships, and navigate everyday life. When self-esteem is low, it can become difficult to recognize personal strengths, trust your abilities, or feel confident in decisions. Over time, negative self-beliefs can contribute to anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and emotional distress.

You may notice yourself or your child struggling with self-doubt, comparing yourself to others, avoiding new opportunities, or being overly critical of mistakes. At Genesis Counseling, we provide Self-Esteem therapy that helps children, teens, and adults develop a healthier sense of self, build confidence, and replace negative thought patterns with more balanced, realistic perspectives.

We offer therapy in Boca Raton, Coral Springs, Delray Beach, Pompano Beach, and Wellington, as well as virtual therapy throughout Florida.

OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE

Signs You May Benefit from Self-Esteem Therapy

Low self-esteem can affect nearly every aspect of daily life. While everyone experiences self-doubt occasionally, ongoing negative beliefs about yourself may benefit from therapeutic support.

You may notice:

  • Frequent negative self-talk
  • Difficulty accepting compliments or recognizing accomplishments
  • Fear of failure or making mistakes
  • Constantly comparing yourself to others
  • Avoiding new opportunities because of self-doubt
  • Difficulty setting healthy boundaries
  • Feeling unworthy or “not good enough”
  • Seeking constant reassurance or approval from others

These patterns can affect emotional well-being, relationships, academic performance, and career growth.

When It May Be Time to Seek Self-Esteem Support

When It May Be Time to Seek Self-Esteem Support

Therapy can help when negative self-beliefs begin interfering with daily life, relationships, or emotional well-being. Building healthy self-esteem can improve resilience, confidence, and overall mental health while creating lasting positive change.

Support may be helpful if:

  • Self-doubt is limiting personal or professional growth
  • Negative self-talk feels constant or overwhelming
  • Confidence has declined after difficult life experiences
  • Low self-esteem is contributing to anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges

What to Expect fromTherapy

Therapy provides a supportive, judgment-free environment where clients can explore the experiences and beliefs that have shaped their self-esteem. Together, you and your therapist will identify unhelpful thought patterns while developing healthier ways of thinking about yourself and your abilities.

Depending on your needs, therapy may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, strengths-based approaches, self-compassion practices, and confidence-building strategies. Clients whose self-esteem is affected by excessive worry may also benefit from our Anxiety Treatment services. Student athletes working to improve confidence under pressure may find additional support through our School Sports Performance therapy, while individuals navigating depression or persistent sadness may also benefit from our Mood Disorders services.

Our goal is to help you build lasting confidence that comes from recognizing your strengths, accepting imperfections, and developing a healthier relationship with yourself.

What should I expect in my first therapy session?

Your first session at Genesis Counseling is an intake appointment, where your therapist will gather important background information to better understand your needs. Whether you’re seeking therapy for yourself, your child, or your family, this session will focus on:

1. Discussing your history and what led you to seek therapy.
2. Identifying your concerns and goals for treatment.
3. Developing a personalized treatment plan to guide your progress.

Our therapists create a safe, supportive environment to help you feel comfortable sharing your experiences.
